European Gate Valves Limited

European Gate Valves has fitted double flap valves to a vacuum separator on a municipal incinerator restoring it to 'better than new'

Double flap valves have successfully replaced rotary valves on a vacuum separator. The initial installation included a set of rotary valves which after approximately three weeks became inoperable due to leakage past the rotary valve.

Designed for the removal of environmental spillage from the waste processing areas, the vacuum equipment was required to pick-up ash and lime, together with various other powders and fines.

Even after extended operation, the European Gate Valves double flap valve has demonstrated lower leakage rates than even newly installed rotary valves.

Double flap valves provide a combination of performance, strength and durability, where conditions of abrasion, vacuum/pressure and temperatures up to 1000C can be accommodated either singly or collectively.

The European Gate Valves double flap valve successfully eliminates the continuous expensive process of maintenance/replacement/repair because sealing is achieved through the mating of two flat ground surfaces.

The double flap valves are robustly manufactured to suit a wide range of application requirements:

·         Bodies can be cast in Iron, Aluminium or Steel

·         Fabricated bodies in mild steel or stainless steels

·         High chrome alloy seats and flaps provide long life even in the most aggressive applications

·         Range of actuators:

o   Manual

o   Gravity

o   Pneumatic (linear or rotary)

o   Electric Motor (Cam or push rod)

·         Wide range of optional equipment:

o   PLC Control

o   Flap position indication

o   Heat shields

o   Cooling for high temperature applications

o   Purged high efficiency shaft seals

Following the success of European Gate Valves double flap valve, it has now been specified at other Municipal Incinerator sites to replace rotary valves.

Due to the design, double flap valves also offer further savings:

·         No need to remove the valve from the process line for repair

·         Access covers for maintenance

·         Replacement parts fitted in-situ

·         Seats and Flaps can be reground

European Gate Valves can supply products tailored to suit the particular thermal, abrasion and pressure requirements of specialised applications, including (but not limited to) the requirements of Cement, Incineration, Pyrolysis, Glass & Ceramics, Energy from Waste, Building Products, Bulk Materials, Environmental, Steel & Iron, Minerals, Non Ferrous, Chemical, Foundries, Agro Chemicals, Paper & Pulp and Gasification.
